Pori Energia Sähköverkot Oy's Vähärauma substation renovation project has reached a good pace. The substation, built in the 1970s, serves the western Pori area extensively. The new substation will be built next to the existing station and partly on top of it in the Vähärauma district.

Construction work has begun and the substation will be completed in February 2027. The contract also includes demolition of the existing substation structures and equipment, as well as sorting for recycling. The project's estimated cost is EUR 7.5 million.
This is Energineering's third consecutive year and project for Pori Energia Sähköverkot. CEO Jani Männikkö is pleased and grateful that the cooperation continues.
"This is a significantly larger than average urban substation. The substation includes five 110 kV outdoor fields and a substation building that is over 600 m² in size . The two-story building will be sustainably manufactured entirely from concrete and will house one of Finland's largest ABB UniGear two-rail switchgears."
The project will ensure a reliable electricity supply for the West Pori region for the next 40–50 years and support the region's growth and the use of sustainable energy.
"The operational reliability and capacity of the electricity grid are essential for the developing Pori. This investment will secure the region's electricity supply for a long time to come," says Sanna Syysmäki, Regional Network and Maintenance Manager at Pori Energia Sähköverkot.
